Adventures Relief is more than a week of service; it's a divine calling for those ready to say “yes” to God's work. This unique ministry welcomes all skill sets, genders, and ages to dive into Kingdom work. It's for those seeking life change, not just a short-term assignment.
Our holistic restoration model adopts communities, channeling resources, leadership, and volunteers into areas that have long been overlooked and underserved. We journey with these communities, loving them through their recovery by the power of Jesus.
We empower locals to be the heroes of their own stories, raising up leaders to continue the good work long after the mission is “complete.” Adventures Relief is about cultivating Kingdom-minded leaders and making a lasting impact.
Meet our Team:
Chris and Sarah Horvath
Chris and Sarah, along with their 4 children, followed the Lord's call on their life and stepped out in faith to become a full-time RVing missionary family. Little did they know that the Lord would use their “yes” to activate others for kingdom work and develop Adventures Relief. Together, their goal is to raise up the next generation of Christian leaders and activate people to answer the call that the Lord places on their lives – regardless of what that is.
Eddie Fannin
Eddie felt the call into missions as a youth participating in disaster relief service. That call was brought to fruition after Eddie served with Adventures through his church. During a listening in prayer moment, Eddie heard the word “completion” and felt in his spirit a call to return to Harlem Heights and assist with the completion of the response. He has since joined Adventures Relief full-time and will travel in his RV to different disaster relief deployments.
Monica Lopez
Monica was a “walk up” volunteer turned community missionary. Her calling from the Lord is to love others as Christ loves us. She fulfills that call by facilitating and maintaining community relationships in Harlem Heights.
Gail and JoEllen Crowe
Gail and JoEllen have worked as nurses for a cumulative total of 70 years. After serving with Adventures in Missions, they have been activated in following the call to join Adventures Relief and serve those after a natural disaster. Originally from Iowa, Gail and JoEllen plan on responding and supporting disaster relief deployments in their 5th-wheel camper.
Dave and Chris Carlson
Dave and Chris Carlson are full-time traveling missionaries. After Chris experienced a miraculous healing, both retired early from their successful corporate careers and are now self-funded global missionaries. They are Adventures Relief team coaches and data managers, and are also involved in several other ministries. Additionally, Dave is an active board member for Adventures in Missions.
Mitch and Jen Narveson
Mitch and Jen, along with three of their children, answered the Lord's call after visiting the Adventures ROC Base in Harlem Heights after Hurricane Ian. After returning to serve in Harlem, this family sold their homestead and all their possessions and embarked as a full-time RVing missionary family for disaster relief. The Narvesons have made themselves available to help others as a family – regardless of age!
